Ootty is also known as Udhagamandalam or Ootacamund. It is the Headquarters of the Nilgiri District of Tamil Nadu. It is the first Hill station in India established by the British during the 19th century. Ootty is 14 hours bus journey from Kanyakumari, 5 hours from Mysore, 14 hours from Chennai, 3 hours journey from Coimbatore. Ootty is a place for out-door activities. The Botanical Gardens of 1848, the famous Flower Show there usually in May, the Horse Races, the Horse Riding , Boating, St. Stephens Church, the oldest Church in the Nilgiris built in 1829 are major attractions
